Subject: RE: Car garage door opener

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I went through this with my pickup and 10 year old opener. I parked the truck fairly close to the garage door, pushed a button on the garage door drive (think it was purple and called Learn). I then quickly walked to the truck and pushed a sequence of buttons in it as described in the owner's manual. I was not successful the first time but it worked on the second attempt. It has continued to work fine since. I was surprised that my Ford Edge with Sync and everything else did not have a built in garage remote. I guess it was an option. Anyway I just the old remote that came with the opener in that vehicle.

There is a different procedure if the garage door opener is quite old and used the DIP switches in their own remotes. I had a friend in that situation and his daughter was eventually successful in getting that to work with his newer truck.
