Subject: Bread maker. mine seems broke. what should I buy?

East central Iowa

I have a West Bend 2 pound loaf maker that is maybe 10 to 15 years old.  It's been working fine.  Now on 2 occasions it's quit part way through and I end up with a lump of partially baked dough.

A couple of days ago it happened for the second time.  I looked and it was reset to the start screen which is 3 hours 40 minutes.  When I pushed the start button it started the count down.  I just pulled the plug and put the bread in the oven.

It was rather dense bread but tasted good.

I took the bottom plate off and I see there is a motor and and belt running the mix device.  But I haven't taken it any further apart.

I guess I'll get a new machine,  but what should I get?

My wife wants me to buy a Cuisinart for $99 but it would take a lot of bread to make that worth the money.  I've seen Black and Decker for about 1/2 that.
