Western Ohio | I have made my box 20' long and 12' wide. I plan to put 3-4 cows at a time in to the working alley. I have a 12x12 alley from the holding pen so let see if this makes sense.
I built a pen 32' long 12' wide. I then put a cut gate in the middle of the pen which gave me one 20x12 pen (box) Then I have a 12x12 pen/alley (wasted space) but it does provide the lane that is supposedly important to make the box work. I have then built a aley way to the head catch that is 24' long off the back left corner.
Pics are not the best but lets try.
One thing I forgot I have put an 8' escape gate by the alley so I can get out quickly and help work the cows that are waiting in the alley up to the chute.
I will probably have to wait for a wet spell to finish it up.
