Subject: Re: Starting a hog barn

SW MN - mt. lake/windom
for feeders, I have been using farmweld for dry, thorp and AP i believe make good feeders as well. Crystal springs and sdi industries make a good wet/dry feeder in my opinion. Contact them and they will inform you of the nearest dealer. Feed lines and bins contact AP or choretime, I believe you could reduce cost by purchasing used feedlines ans bins. Check your neighborhood for used equipment or craigslist, 6-8 ton bins are very easy to move with a flatbed trailer.

Contact your feed company and they should be able to generate a list of brokers for open market feeder pigs. I've been out of the open market since 10' , I tried to source pigs for a barn that came open in my neighborhood recently and it appears that the feeder market is low on supply in comparision to 3-6 years ago, sounds like more open market has shifted to weaners.

I'm curious to see pics of the barn, did you get a chance to take a cuopke ?
