Subject: Fertilizing cereal rye

Has anyone had experience with rye in S. Illinois? I have 40 acres of covercrop rye that looks good and I'm considering saving it for seed, especially since I such trouble finding seed last fall. I just put N on my wheat and now I'm wondering how much to put on that rye. How much is too much. I can imagine what a mess it would be if it fell over.
