NE CO | Two years ago, our wheat was a mighty thin stand, with some still emerging in the spring and many big bare spots. It was still that way in April, with dry soil and what looked like zero prospects. Insurance adjusters counted every emerged plant as having the possibility to develop a large number of tillers (20?), so the predicted yield was nearly the insured amount. Then it started to rain and stayed cool thru harvest and many fields made 50+ bu/ac. That was a very unique spring/early summer and not typical. Check with insurance, then make your decision. | |
