Nevada, Iowa | You are right, the first oil crisis, shortage deal sent ammonia through the roof. I can't recall how long it took but prices and distribution / manufacture did return to normal. The spring of 74 you just couldn't get NH3 at times or UAN for that matter. Planted quite a little corn without N that year and fed it later, that was not normal at that time. Some of that "later" was with a hiboy.
I remember seeing local cash corn bids at .99 in the fall of 77. They didn't stay there long but that was likely the low. | |
