Nova Scotia | I'll deal with dumb calves over a cow who intends to do me harm. 3 mean cows so far this year, one last night, first calve heifer that showed no signs of temper until I grabbed the calf through the rails and pulled her through to my side, cow went ballistic. If she had've been outside I might have been in trouble, fortunately I had her in a pen. Other 2 never showed signs of aggression at previous calvings, but they meant business this time. Usually there's 2 of us but my father just went back to working away.
If they calve outside I try to keep the ATV as close by as possible for cover and have someone else there to keep an eye on her. | |
