wouldn't that really either be a form of custom farming or a 50/50 crop share?
If I'm understanding it correctly I think in this case the farmer is also making half the land payments.
This begs the question of what happens to the partnership if the farmer does a bad job. How does the landlord fire him if he's making half the payments?
