I agree with you on needing to protect your self, however I think this is the year you need as high a coverage as possible.  With RP if the price tanks you can get a healthy check even with a yield above your aph.  Here all the lenders require insurance, usually 70% is the number, after that it gets real expensive.  In the past I can recall at least two times 'we hit' on the old CRC policy and collected with an average or above average crop. 

A little off topic but it plays into the whole equation.  Here we have a hard time contracting our crop ahead of time because we never know about aflatoxin.  The RP will give us some market protection not available otherwise.

Now if only we had some device to protect us from the $2 basis swings we see down here we'd be set! LOL
