Dayton, IA | Found some pictures of a fertilizer bander Dad and a neighbor built in the 80's mostly to get K deeper when they were ridge tilling. I can remember riding in the tractor as a little kid. Really like the picture of the black ridge tops with all the cornstalks down in the valley. Would be a great way to do corn on corn. Dad finally went away from ridges in the mid 90's because we have the hog manure custom applied and it just doesn't work with ridges. Have moved to strip-till, but after looking back at these ridges makes me think the warm dry top is a real benefit in our soils. Like both systems for fertilizer placement and cost savings. Wyatt has a more comfy ride than I did 25 years ago.
