Ive composted litter with gypsum. Its makes it smell like compost instead of litter but the time and the effort involve can double the cost of the litter.
The easy way to do it is drive a spreader truck through the turkey houses spreading gypsum before the litter gets cleaned out. But unless your cleaning out yourself or have a good relationship with your litter provider, that can be easier said than done.
Is your litter already in a pile in the field?
I have some friends south of you, cupps, who spread lime in the house, then blend cleanout litter with compost from the Midwest Biosystem program....works very well as soil amendment per 2- 8 yr soil tests and crop observation.
What have been your soil observations/soil test/ crop observations, after applying the litter/gypsum blend? |
