Tried it a couple of years ago. Didn't see any difference in yield, maybe even worse yield. If you have a crust, you will have half the population of beans pushing against it instead of the full rate. Some beans are closer together to canopy faster, but the distance between the points of the rectangle is 32 by 78 inches with 30 inch rows. The middle of the rectangle won't canopy any faster than 30 inch rows. You might have better luck splitting the row the second pass or offsetting 10 inches or so to make it look like a twin row.
