Missouri | Glad you did not sell the calf. Sounds like it will be a good expirence for you. These guys are high risk don't kid yourself. Great for wifes, kids, ect. Unfortunate scours can set in and take out the best of them. Extra's come in handy be it an orhan or a twin. We have Grama Cows around just to have extra's that calves get different color tag so they can be grafted if time allows. Things happen. Cattle are work, that is why they are not popular, owner/manager makes his profit from keeping death loss under 10%, rulebook says nature will take out 10% so it is the managers job to keep it under that. Actually keeping a bobby calf little hungry is not wrong. Might be a good time to learn about Navel Illness. That is why they iodine navels which rarely gets done. Have A Good Day. | |
