The reason they tell you to listen the bolts is to make sure pedal is pulling valve spool straight out of the body and not binding. The important measurement is the clearance between the pedal and floor when pedal is fully released. If spool is not fully seated in valve when pedal is fully up, hydro pressure will not be up to spec.
