The older Troy-Bilts are solid if you can find one, not sure about the newer ones. I picked up a used Troy-Bilt Pony a couple of years ago, probably 20 years old, smallest rear-tine tiller I've seen. I think I could pound on that thing with a sledge-hammer for an hour and it would still run.
Rototillers?
