Central Texas
I feed silage to cows by putting it on flatbed utility trailers with 12" sideboards and parking trailer in the pasture. Cows eat off the trailers. Lots cheaper than the Apache/SI feeder wagons. Put it out on mondays and fridays. Works quite well. Damage to grass around the trailers varies with moisture conditions and drainage. Park trailers in a different spot every time. Am considering putting down a pad of crushed rock for a feeding area.
