Subject: Perception of Agriculture

East Central SD
Just thought I would throw this out there.

In South Dakota a bill is proposed in the Senate to possibly constrict tiling projects in the state (SB 179). I doubt it will go anywhere but in the process of googling for some info I came across a Pheasant forum where it was being discussed. I went to check it out and was amazed at the amount of misinformation on tiling and agriculture as a whole and also what I would call almost a hatred of the average farmer. I ended up joining the forum just to try to correct some information and try to point out we farmers are not the devil. For the most part I was well received with only one person completely unwilling to consider his beliefs could be wrong. The thread turned from being COMPLETELY negative to something fairly positive.

My only point is that I would strongly encourage some of you to take a little time here in the winter and try to paint agriculture in a positive light. It's definitely not in my nature to speak out but sometimes you have to say enough is enough.
