Subject: RE: pond

If you plan on the cows using the pond when they are calving I would say not to do it. Our cows had access to rural and pond water and they always drank out of the pond because it was closer. If you have ever seen a group of cows at a pond there is two or three peeing in it at one end and two or three drinking at the other. We were having calf heath problems and a vet told us to put a hot wire around the pond and the health issues cleared up and we had heather born calves since than, not to mention pulling a day old calf out of it because he has followed mom in. Our pond now is currently filled in and growing grass quite nicely. Sorry I did not answer your question but with the price of livestock one dead calf might pay for a lot of pipe and water.

P.S. If you have a pond you will have ducks. Ducks is how crypto is spread around here.
