South central, Mn. | We had a home made approx. 8x6x2.5 ft. concrete watering tank that my grandpa made probably in the 30's. That went to heck about 10 yrs. ago so I bought a new concrete fuel containment tank about the same size. The new one isn't as thick walled and probably made with weaker cement mixture and now that is starting to get hairline cracks and crumbling on the top edge. I use an old cob/wood burner for keeping it open in the winter.
Now my question, has anyone ever used an old stainless bulk milk tank for a watering tank? I would need about a 800 gal. size. I know stainless is spendy, but someone has to have an old one sitting around. I know they might be worth something for scrape too. If I find one I might have to dig it into the ground some so the cows and calves can drink out of it.
I am open to ideas. Thanks. | |
