I had a border collie/ aussie mix that was a great dog like you are describing. she saved a lot of work around the cattle. I even took her rabbit hunting a few times she would start acting "gamey" then sort of go on point and if I could follow her stare I would eventually see the rabbit she was looking at. I'm not sure I'll ever have another dog as good as she was.
