The ads were from the fluid milk check-off also known as Milkpep, not the dairy check-off that we producers pay. The milk moustache ads are also processor funded- not farmer funded. That is the reason the commercials were for fluid milk--not dairy in general. You have to look hard to find any advertisements from the promotion money we contribute to the National Dairy Board. The money that goes to the state level promotion boards is spent in various ways, depends on the state and how each one goes about it. In response to youngfarmer, it is up to the state-level promotion board to decide who does the promotion and how that is done. I do know that here in the Southeast, there is some effort underway to promote the image of the industry and highlight the farmers and how and why we do things.
