I don't know if you have a store that rents "Rug Doctors"...or similar sized carpet cleaning machines...but get one early in the morning, spray the pre-treater on your most heavily soiled areas and use "hot" water with the standard shampoo that they sell with it...even though the Rug Doctor instructions say you shouldn't. Go two or three ways across the areas you clean...and then go back over them a couple times with clean lukewarm water in the machine to rinse the soap out. I've been known to go back over an area with the clean water until it dumps out almost completely clear. When it's clear...go back over it with no liquid in the tank and just suck as much moisture out of the carpet as you can. Set up some fans...open the windows...and let it dry completely before you start walking over it.
