Southwest OK
Gain can be from 1.75 to 3.5 lbs a day for steers, heifers will be 1.25 to 3 depending on weather and type of cattle. I typically figure an average of 2.5 on implanted steers. I was paid .90$ a lbs for gain two years ago for some natural heifers. They averaged 2.1 for 90 days. Weather and genetics were excellent. The owner was expecting 1.75. I think. Haven't heard what prices are this year, no extra pasture in my area for two years now. Would say anywhere from .60$ to .75$ per pound of gain would be reasonable depending on level of care provided.
