I would never change banks as long as they are there for me. If you have gotten, or get too big to fit inside their lending limits they will also be your most valuable reference. Irrespective of what many may think, small bankers still ultimately loan on character, not solely on financial statements.
Probably very true. Until they get bought out by the "local" bank in the next town over that is trying to grow into a "big city" bank and enjoys flexing its new-found muscle. Then the years of relationship-building, trust and loyalty with your local small-town bank are out the window. Long-time, reliable employees are replaced by others from the big town who know how all the systems and policies of the bigger bank work, but don't know anything about anybody coming thru the door. The result is about as satisfactory as a toothache. |
