| I don't mean to rain on your parade, but you may be getting ahead of yourself. We did the same thing when our girls were little. We had all kinds of grand ideas about what their livestock projects would look like- dairy cattle, nothing but dairy cattle. Today our girls have 30 ewes. They both had dairy cattle when they were younger but the passion is really in the sheep.
Like was mentioned above, if this is something you want to for yourself then go forth and build a herd. Otherwise, let the kids lead the way towards what really interests them. Who knows, you may end up with sows on the farm again. I always said that I would never have sheep or a fluffy little dog; today I have both thanks to my daughters.
