wife and i just got back about two weeks ago,  we stayed at the Majestic elegance it was great they took care of everything from the time you get of the plain to when you go back.  at our resort we had people from expedia from 10am to about 12 to book safaries or atv rides.  The sip-line is a must, the tour guide will scare the **** out of you but when you try the first 2 runs you'll want to do the rest it costs about 180 for two.  and make sure you call your credit card company or any other calls you need to make yourselft that someone back home can't make for you because the calls are about $35 per minute the $5 everyminute after. We also took a one day tour with the Bavaro runners the also have a website.  we visited a small sugarcane farm were they showed use how it all works also cigars and how they are maid, cocoa, coffee, vanila.  also on the same tour horseback riding.  We also went with a private tour company to huigwy not sure of the spelling a city 100000 people he took us throught the city to a museum and then a large church it was a 3.5 hour event costs us 50 each we should have taken an extra hour to see the market.  The name of the company is Peguero tours the number to call is 809 958 4896.  They will even pick you up from the airport i think it's 40 or so.
