Subject: RE: welI im eating my words-starting another young guy- wood bunks in zero weather

Driftless SW Wisconsin

The Herf maybe just wanted a quiet meal of some hay..... ;)  He'll come around, just not used to all that fancy stuff in the bunks.  My bull calf sees me coming and he is at the bunk ready to go before I open the gate.

As you know it is going to be well below zero tonight so I went out again and gave the cows some grain in the concrete fenceline bunks in my corral. Seeing the nice wooden bunks in your pictures reminds me of a question - when it is colder outside than in your food freezer, are wood bunks better than concrete?

I was watching my cows and thinking about the old warning to not put your tongue on the pump handle...   The raised wooden bunks look very good.
