E.Central MN | I'm not saying this report was bad, it does give relative income growth rates for regions that we don't hear much about. I was rather intrigued by a recent report about peak oil and the near-term vs long-term effects which suggested higher prices for a period and then a lowering of the price of oil. The report suggested that it would be due to a development of alternative fuel sources, but it could easily be argued that at very high oil prices a lot of people would probably face starvation in some areas of the world. If you and I are living on car-wash (or horse stable) wages we're not likely to have the extra money to donate to the poor in other countries, especially food deficit areas. The reality of that hasn't hit most people and few politicians want to admit it either. As you said there's some serious money behind the use of food grains for energy. | |
