| Get a gun/reel silicon cloth to wipe your skin oil/sweat off the exterior finish after every handling. In regards to cleaning, go to any gun website and you usually can find some good information on cleaning. Sig Sauer has some good gun cleaning videos. But to answer your question, the steps in cleaning the bore depends mainly on what cleaning products you are using.
However, the steps are usually the following. Swab bore with a wet patch and let sit for a while. Then dry patch out. If you do not start to get clean patches or the barrel still shows signs of debris, then wet patch and give the bore about 10 strokes with a wet bronze brush. Patch out dry. If the firearm is not going to be used for a while, then wet patch the bore with an oil or conditioner that inhibits rust. Send several dry patches down the bore before firing.
There are absolutely too many brands of cleaning/lubricating products to comment on. I suggest getting a Midway USA catalog and thumb through the cleaning/lubrication section to see what you like. FYI, I use Tetra Gun products. They have a nice little starter kit that comes with a DVD to show how to use their products.
