I think it is typical of hearing loss. My dad used to complain about the same problem with tv and he was getting deaf. I notice it a bit but not too bad yet. Worst case is watching a movie. The characters will be muttering away in just more than a whisper, suddenly some booming crashing sound effect nearly blows you out of the chair. I hate that and see it on a lot of movies .
