Southeast Colorado | A fellow I know that feeds and backgrounds a lot of calves says to either take them the day of the sale or take them no later than 3 days before the sale. He has been doing this for 50 years several times a year and has tried it all. I'm going with his theory. As far as the shrink thing goes............I'm guessing a lot of the shrink comes just from the stress they go through when rounding up and loading. I wouldn't think 10 vs. 70 miles would be that much different. Just my opinion. | |
