Southern IA | if you think it is just water loss, dump a load on bare dirt, the next year not much will grow, then for a few years after that you will have the most abnormal green growth. A few years ago when wet feed was $20/ton or less laid in, we'd dump 50-100 loads on a pile in the late fall and it would crust over and keep really well, but knew we lost quite a bit out the bottom. Would never do that now with it $100+. Ahay, I think the savings on a few loads would pay for a slab and walls to hold a couple loads and have a permanent setup | |
