Part of the problem is parents who have a hard time accepting that their child might have a problem to start with. Lack of discipline and accountability at a young age can lead to many problems later in life.
Add in untreated and ignored mental health issues and things can really go bad in a hurry. Unfortunately mis diagnosis and problems with an individuals reactions to prescription drugs can also contribute to the problem.
The glorification of violence in entertainment and video games could influence unstable people in a negative way as well.
There are many contributing factors to these tragedies. There are no easy answers.
