Sumner GA, Located in southwest GA,
Thinking 80 with 60 in milk any one time, and do at least some grazing. No land no room, not enough feed and really no desire to be much bigger. I would rather be a smaller, better farm than a bigger farm, I would also be more inclined to divirsify or get into on farm processing as opposed to a large herd, especially as it goes back to not having enough continginious land to grow, at least on my home farm. Would appear a robot is very cost competetive as compared to labor and building a decent parlor, at least numbers I have used. Really not sure how I would end up building it, I am thinking if I didn't use freestalls the only alternative is a lime or sand pack, only good thing is that no concrete and no steel needed other than a retaining wall, could/should be able to pack clay enough to have a solid base.
