alot of it used in the south ( cake been the supp standard for perhaps 70 years ).
If your short of natural feed perhaps use the 20% and feed approx 2x ( actually 1.65x ) as much vs the 40%.
20% generally costs about half of what the 40% runs.
on 40% perhaps supp em 2 to 3 lbs every other day.
or go to ( depends on how far out your cows are ) feeding 3 lbs on day 1, 3lbs on day 4, 3lbs on day 8, and the 3lbs on day 11 which also works out to being day 1 again.
if you've got alot of natural feed just use 1 to 2 lbs per feeding.
depending on the winter it generally takes 200 to 250 lbs of 40% cake per cow.
supping almost year around because of the dry it takes 600 to 700lbs.
