Minnesota | Yes, If you like the fall price offered now, you can do the HTA and set basis later. Cost 3 to 5 cents / bushel depending on elevator (2000 to 5000 bushel contract). Suggest having storage so you can roll to a later month at 1 cent / bushel and pick up any carry in the market or possible improvement in basis. This doesn't work when the market is inverted (no carry, tight basis). Your location and historical basis will help your decision. Talk to your local elevator manager. Good luck! | |
