Subject: Is a smoking DPF standard equipment on all S series combines?

Eastern NC
Iam running a S670 that started smoking around the DPF during regeneration yesterday. The combine has about 140 engine hours and it has not been doing this until the last clean cycle. I have seen some discussion here about the DPF making smoke and it seems that some have found a cracked exhaust pipe causing the problem. The dealer has tried to look for answers and says it is normal but I am not sure. All I know is that when the cart driver calls on the radio and says the combine is smoking it is usually not a good sign. Maybe we need to add some more rotating beacons that will let others know that the combine is performing a controlled burn. By the way, the smoke does not smell like smoke from a dust fire, it smells like the smoke that we used to get from a diesel engine when they were still something to work with instead of work on.
