We use a buckle halter, like a pony halter, and a three foot piece of twine. Halter the ewe so she can eat and drink, front piece high enough that she can use her mouth, then tie her off in the corner of a jug. Works better that a grafting gate as the ewe can see the lamb, but not get at it.
