I know of a couple that went over 10,000 hrs and were never touched. I personally think the 8640 is the best one of all the 30,40,50 series 4w drive. I just got rid on my 8650 this summer and miss it dearly. They get a bad rap on this site but if I found a well taken care one worth the money I would't be scared of it.
