Driftless SW Wisconsin | Wicket - 11/19/2012 07:15 First year coming up doing COC is there anything I can add to my fall potash applicacation to help the stalk breakdown. Ground has been tilled already. In MN.Thanks
You talk about putting K down but no P? If you could use some P you might have your fert supplier mix some dap in with the 0-0-60. This will give you a bit of N as well as some P in the seed zone.
I am not a fan of fall N specifically to break down residue. Just make sure your planter is equipped with row cleaners and hd dp springs or airbags. Dont be afraid to run the row cleaners pretty aggressively in the spring to give the seed a cleared black path as well as a level spot so the planter row unit can provide uniform seed depth. I think in coc it is usually helpful to have some 10-34-0 or similar very close to the seed either thru a spring striptill application just ahead of the planter or 5 gal/a infurrow on 30" rows. It can work well.
where in Mn? N,S,E,W?
