| That plant will grow out of this desiccation. The biggest concern will be the timing and extent of the next freeze. The first burn has delayed the time the plant has to build crown diameter. If weather keeps out of too much teens or excessive temp swings for a while that plant should continue to develop and push new leaves out. Would be nice to see the crown diameter entering the ground reaching 5/16" with the crown sitting tight on the ground for good cold tolerance
The alleopathy from the wheat residue contributed to the initial burn as did the reflectance of sunlight keeping the ground cooler prior to the that first freeze. Are you seeing plants not in close proximity to residue where they emerged looking better? | |
