I don't know if there is any difference on the opener blades. I think the biggest difference is in a frame mounted or unit mounted no till coulter. I have frame mounted on my 1780 and haven't had a problem with penetration yet. Actually rented it to a buddy who had a 7240 with unit mounted because his wouldn't go in the ground. I don't run the wavy coulter and not the bubble coulter. I think they call it fluted about 3/4" cut width. Just took delivery today of a 3500 with frame coulters on the 8 corn rows. Hope the 8 pusher units won't give me any trouble with just the unit mounted. Frame mounted is the only way to go in clay in my opinion.
