Subject: Re: Case-IH 1260 planter

West Central MN
We have had a 36 row 22" 1260 for two years now and we have been very happy so far with it.

The first year we pulled it with a Steiger 335 on skinny duals which handled it fine although it was really working the tractor the entire time in our rolling ground. That spring was very, very wet around here so it was a good test as to how the weight of the planter would work in those conditions. I will say we did get stuck with it twice that Spring and did have to leave some areas for our small 16 row planter we have for planting small fields.

This past spring we pulled it with a Steiger 485 Quad which worked awesome. The tractor just basically idled along through the field and we really liked the Quad on a planter. We were able to solve the pinch row problems in the center which we had always believed were caused more from the narrow tires on the tractor then the weight of the planter. Last spring was very dry so it was nice to just fill the planter up and go.
