NE Kansas | I planted radishes and turnips on 100 acres that was chopped for silage; they really took off with the late rains. I had the foliage tested for nitrates two weeks ago. They told me the danger level for bred cows was 1.7, mine came back 5.8. They think the turnips and radishes have scavenged enough nitrogen that there is 80 lbs/acre. One of the fields of turnips/radishes is on a half section of corn stalks and bean stubble; my plan is to use an electric fence to keep them off the turnips/radishes and move it periodically. | |
