North End I-15 | Wife's cousin had a Torino with 429 Boss and 4 speed . Monster car , could rip rubber shifting from 3rd to 4th. A real muscle car .
his older brother had a 61 Pontiac with 3 duces factory . Was also hard to keep tires on . Both cars were bought show room new.
My muscle car was a 55 Chev . solid lifters , 3 sp over drive . Bought used in 60. Blew engine on road trip home from ND . Out ran a HP in a hard down pour of rain . New motor was a 283 over the old 265 . The 265 would push valves in to the pistons at top end . Did that twice . Spent a whole summers wages on engines . ah the joy of youth. ;-)
Sad part was I fell asleep and totaled the car just after installing the new 283 . Wife was a girlfriend at the time , when we got married We received a 49 Buick as a wedding present . A real tuna boat . End of muscle cars for this guy . | |
