If you want to do it right, change the boot. Some plows are more forgiving than others, due to boot shape. Johnson makes a \/ shaped bottum, so as long as the tile is laid in the bottum it has proper support. The flapper on the back of the boot pushes the tile to the bottum. Liebrecht makes a round bottum that is a little forgiving. Waynes makes a modfied U shape. Waynes does not recommend stepping down more than one size. Golddigger makes \_/ shaped buttom. If you are using too big a boot the tile is laying on a flat bottum. This is more likely to egg shape over time. You are probably OK stepping down one size, but I would not recommend stepping down two sizes. As far as a feeder is concerned, all tile manufactures recommend a feeder. If you strech your tile 10% you loose 20% of your strength. If you are using any narrow slot in sandy conditions, a feeder prevents opening up the slots to allow sand in.
