Iowa | Higher yield this fall than ten years ago, "here", others had good crop insurance. Either way, the dollars are there unless a livestock enterprise is bleeding red.
160 bu ten yrs ago at $2 = $320/a. Lots of $ 1100+ crop insurance guarantees in Iowa, $1000/a nearly everywhere. Not every acre is cash rented (high land cost), lots of "cheap" land either paid off or bought a while back w payments way less than cash rent. If overall land cost is in line, money to be made. | |
