Installed the AFX rotor in my 88 two years ago, left the cone and veins in , so far no problem. The only thing different with the AFX rotor is a new wear point on the sheet metal. Just below the cone and above the sheet metal that the belly augers blocks are mounted in is a piece of metal that will wear. There will be a hole just under the center point of the cone eventually.
