west Nebraska northeast Colorado | Matt,
I would agree 100% that increased residue (all other things being equal) will result in reduced erosion. However, I am unaware of any studies in the western Central Great Plains (summer fallow areas of eastern CO, NE panhandle, etc.) that correlate increased residue with increased wheat yield. One of the best data sets I have looked at comes from Tribune, KS, and the difference between no-till fallow and reduced-till fallow doesn't appear significant. Do you have some other data? |
